After a break in visits, due to the pandemic, the garden visits group has re-launched. Having decided to keep things as straightforward and simple as possible due to having to continue to cope with changing coronavirus limitations, our first visit in June was to one of Kent’s finest gardens, beautiful Great Comp at Platt, near Sevenoaks. On a perfect English summer afternoon, KIC members were able to wander round the Italian garden, romantic ruins and enchanting woodland walks as well as viewing the sweeping lawns and colourful borders of this tranquil garden. After strolling through all of this and admiring the rhododendrons and azaleas, which were in full bloom, we headed to the Old Dairy tearooms for tea and cake. Great Comp also houses an impressive collection of salvias, in case you need some of these exquisite plants to enhance your borders.
